Texas Commercial Glass – Weatherford, TX
Don't Just Cut Costs

Shawn Murphy, CEO of Texas Commercial Glass, was looking to control costs and cut headcount when they purchased their RhinoFab 900. But after installation it quickly became apparent there were other benefits too.

Background

Sean Murphy is CEO of Texas Commercial Glass Concepts in Weatherford, TX. When the company started in 2004, all their fabrication was done by hand – cut lists, hand layouts, chop saws, and hand drilling.

Early Investments

After two years of business, they acquired some punch presses. For the next several years this became the go-to tool in their shop.

But they still were generating cut lists manually, cutting by hand and doing manual layouts. They basically just eliminated drilling.

Next Evolution in Fabrication

The Texas Commercial Glass team came across a RhinoFab promo video and started doing their homework. They talked to several individuals and business owners; even went to the GlassBuild trade show.

And their conclusion about RhinoFab was, “This is fantastic. It changes everything. We'll be able to cut back staff and cut our costs.”

Productivity and Sales Boost

Once Texas Commercial installed the RhinoFab 900, they quickly realized additional upside benefits. They did not cut personnel. In fact, the opposite happened. “We didn't ramp down. We ramped up.”

They were able to fabricate more finished extrusions – within specs, get it delivered to the field; get it installed, and invoiced quicker than ever. The RhinoFab 900 created an opportunity for TCGC to increase sales significantly and actually add personnel in other areas besides fabrication.

Shop Floor Employee Response

The response to the RhinoFab 900 in the shop was great. Once the operators grasped the basic machine and software operation, they were off and running in no time.

Long-Term Durability and Reliability

Texas Commercial has a RhinoFab 900 since 2015. And it's still running strong. “I walk out in the shop every day and I hear the thing humming.”

It just ramped up our production capabilities significantly to where now we're fabricating for other people, too. As Sean put it, “I don't know what we would do without a RhinoFab 900.”
